Tbilisi Mayor and one of the leaders of the Georgian Dream, Kakha Kaladze, says he "does not consider it appropriate to hold Pride Week." In his view, certain groups might "misuse" it.
"Freedom of expression is protected in this country. We passed an important law years ago where everyone is equal and everyone has the opportunity to express themselves. As for Pride Week in general, I do not consider it appropriate to hold it because there are specific people, specific groups who can misuse the situation on both sides" said Kakhi Kaladze.
He told reporters that freedom of expression was protected in the country and that no one could cite any examples when that right was restricted.
