We will give every opportunity to the opposition to continue its parliamentary activities - GD

Authorities extended the ultimatum to the opposition once again.

The opposition does not change its position and does not intend to enter the parliament and calls on the government to make a decision on the suspension of mandates in time.

  • "The decision to give up our mandates was not impulsive, it is a result of the election being rigged, people are waiting for a change of the government," said Zurab Melikishvili, a member of the United National Movement.
  • "It is important for this to happen and for the one-party parliament to be stamped as a communist parliament, after which the process will begin and more pressure will be put on the Dream," said Giorgi Kandelaki, a member of European Georgia.
  • "I have been twisting the neck of all authorities without a mandate for twenty years, this will be the third one that I will see off  without a mandate," said Shalva Natelashvili, the leader of the Labor Party.

The Dream says that the opposition will be given every opportunity to continue its parliamentary activities.

"We will give every opportunity to the parliamentary opposition to continue their parliamentary activities to the end. Our wish and expectation is that the majority of the opposition will decide to continue its activities until February 2," said Guram Machavariani, a representative of the Parliamentary Committee on Procedural Affairs.

The ruling party will discuss the issue of suspending 51 opposition MPs in a week.
