Nika Gvaramia's appeal to the opposition and critics of the opposition - the arrested CEO of the "Mtavari Channel" spoke at the ongoing trial in the Tbilisi Court of Appeals regarding the frequent criticism of political opponents of the government that this criticism is often unfair and irrational. According to Nika Gvaramia, society itself can change a lot of things with its activity, and only appealing to the weakness of the opposition weakens it even more, which only benefits Bidzina Ivanishvili:
"Criticism of the opposition has become an end in itself. I apologize to all of you for saying this, but it looks like this. The purpose of criticism is to improve the environment. Criticism of the opposition has become such that you have to say it and finish. There are very few critics who are harsher than me, but friends, the context It changes the content as well as the time and form of what is said. The context in public life is much more than the content. It happens sometimes, and it certainly is so now.
Opposition, I won't even say that we have such as we have society. I don't want to say that. I can tell you for sure that our opposition is much better than the pre-war Ukrainian political spectrum of a day ago, but when external problems coincided, we see how this opposition, even the government, united. didn't the current government of Ukraine come to power a year ago?
For example, when I look at this, I suddenly imagine that one day I will look back and the political back of those of us who want to change the government, want a pro-Western state will be completely exposed. The weaknesses of the opposition are really there, they are noticeable, they are on the surface, but these weaknesses are deepened by such attitudes, and sometimes these attitudes are unfortunately unfair. Sometimes fair, but without context - Nika Gvaramia said.
He also addressed the oppositionists in the hall and told them that now is the best time to unite and stand by the critical media.
Nika Gvaramia spoke about the difficult financial situation of critical media compared to the colossal financing of official media:
"I also want to ask the opposition, of course, I think that now is the time to unite like never before, this criticism will definitely end, you need something new, friends, to reload both your internal resources and the public's attitude towards you. This requires your inner energy and your unity is very important, it may even be the only solution, and it is your responsibility, not only an opportunity.
Regarding my channel and critical media in general, I asked the opposition, this is not an unattainable task, it is a local task, it does not take much effort to fulfill this task, so that these channels can survive. I am not talking only about our channel, nor only about the Caucasus, everyone is having a hard time in the critical media.
I saw it published, it turns out that "Imedi" has 102 million GEL. "Rustavi 2" had the largest 50 million GEL, it is impossible to compare ratings at all, Rustavi 2 has twice more financing than us and twice less rating. I didn't even expect that the public broadcaster, which, by the way, is better than Imedi in terms of quality.
Society can also save us. I am under the impression that the society appointed the opposition as a scapegoat because it does not want to admit its inability and unwillingness to consolidate, just as everyone does not want to admit their weaknesses and see the one who may have real problems, but everything should be blamed. It's not fair. This is not rational.
I have many complaints against the opposition and I personally tell them when they come to me, if they come and whoever comes, but this does not mean that we should say this in such a context that it will only weaken the opposition and the weakening of the opposition only strengthens Bidzina Ivanishvili, no one else. And the expectation that even if this opposition collapses, they still do nothing and suddenly a new one will appear and change everything is at least irrational," Nika Gvaramia said about the ongoing process in the court of appeals.
