Late last night, the car of the mayor of Tsalenjikha municipality, Gia Kharchilava, was set on fire and completely burnt.
Tamar Belkania, a member of the "Lelo - for Georgia" party, says that unknown persons probably poured fuel on Gia Kharchilava's car, which was standing in front of the house, and set it on fire.
"I have no words to tell you that I feel safe, not really. Naturally, the investigation will determine what happened, we hope for that," says Belkhania.
According to him, the incident happened around 4 o'clock at night. According to available information, no one was injured as a result of the incident. Parts of the damaged car were moved to the police building.
For information, Gia Kharchilava is the only opposition mayor who won the 2021 local self-government elections.
"Mtavari Channel" was told by the Ministry of Internal Affairs that the investigation into the incident has been started under Article 187 of the Criminal Code, which means damage to someone else's property, and the car has been taken to the police station.
