At today's meeting in the parliament, the opposition party representatives agreed on whom they would support as a candidates for public defender. National People's Party, Lelo, Strategy Aghmashenebeli and individual MPs selected 3 candidates - Giorgi Burjanadze, Nazi Janezashvili and Ana Abashidze.

The opposition says that the remaining candidates must now be nominated by other political groups.

Georgian Dream Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze said today that the opposition is trying to promote a desired candidate based on party affiliation.

"Risks are very serious, the risks are also connected with the fact that the National Movement has no subjective interest in supporting any candidate, today the Office of Public Defender is fully staffed with supporters of the National Movement. Therefore, if a new Ombudsman isn't selected, they already have the entire Ombudsman's office staffed with their supporters" - Kobakhidze said.
