Yesterday the government openly refused to implement the EU recommendations - Nika Melia on the return of Murusidze-Gvitishvili

The court has finally turned into a corrupt and clannish system without jurisdiction, which the Russian oligarchs like - this is how the return of Levan Murusidze and Dimitri Gvritishvili to the Council of Justice is assessed by the leader and chairman of the National Assembly Nika Melia.

According to Nika Melia, with this decision, the Dream government declared an open battle with the West and refused to comply with the 12 points.

"Yesterday, the conference of judges ignored international recommendations and elected Levan Murusidze and Dimitri Gvritishvili as members of the High Council of Justice. We all know who Murusidze is and what his reputation is. Yesterday the judicial system and this government with this decision openly refused to implement the recommendations voiced by the EU and reform the system.

The UNM leader calls on Western partners to respond in a timely manner and assess these facts accordingly - "it is clear that even the theoretical chance of implementing the recommendations is lost," Melia says.

"What happened yesterday shows that this government has no intention in principle to implement the recommendations of the European Commission. Moreover, it is clear from their actions that they are doing everything to make the Russian dream come true and to prevent Georgia from becoming a member of the European family.

Therefore, I call on our Western partners that spare no effort to help us realize Georgia's European aspirations to respond in a timely manner and give an appropriate assessment of these facts. It is clear that even a theoretical chance of implementing the recommendations is being lost and for obvious reasons it is important for the partners to clarify them so that the public is informed that bringing this totally fictitious process to parliamentary voting and talking about obligatory involvement of the opposition in the same process by the partners is senseless. As soon as possible, the partners should announce that the government has already refused to implement the recommendations, to which there should be an appropriate reaction," says Melia.
