The Tbilisi Court of Appeals today did not pronounce the verdict in the case of Nika Gvaramia, founder and CEO of the Mtavari Channel. This was stated by the judicial panel at the last court session held today. According to them, the judicial apparatus will disseminate information after the verdict is pronounced.
Just to remind, on May 16 Nika Gvaramia was sentenced by the city court to 3 years and 6 months in prison. The Prosecutor's Office accuses him of "abuse of power against legitimate interests of the TV company and using a big sum of money owned by him in his official capacity" while he was the head of Rustavi 2 TV company.
According to the information requested from the court by the Democratic Initiative of Georgia, no one has been sentenced to imprisonment under this article from 2017 to 2021.
