Not granting Georgia candidate status was discrimination - Orban

The Hungarian Prime Minister declares that the decision by which Georgia was not granted EU candidate status was discriminatory and disrespectful to the Georgian people.

Orban said this at a joint briefing with Georgian Prime Minister Garibashvili:

"We all know that a very bad decision was announced in Brussels. I would say that it was a discriminatory decision when candidate status was given to Moldova and Ukraine and not to Georgia. This cannot be justified even morally, and it is a harmful decision. Our guest and his country deserve candidate status because he has worked very hard in recent years, and this decision was disrespectful to the Georgian people, to the Georgian state," - Orban said.
