We are doing our best to protect our countries in these difficult times - statements by Garibashvili and Orban

We are doing everything possible to protect our countries and defend the interests of our people in this difficult time, - said Prime Minister Garibashvili during the joint briefing with his Hungarian counterpart.

After the meeting with Viktor Orban, Irakli Garibashvili thanked him for the support of Georgia in the European structures and noted that the Georgian government is doing everything for implementing the recommendations given by the European Union.

Garibashvili also spoke about the war in Ukraine and said that it must end soon:

"Today we have to live and work in very difficult times. Governments and rulers have a great responsibility to their country and people. Here I want to reiterate my great respect for Mr. Prime Minister and his policies, we are doing everything we can to protect our countries and to protect the interests of our people in these difficult times.

The war in Ukraine is, of course, totally unacceptable. We support Ukraine on all platforms. Our desire is to end this war as soon as possible, our desire should not be to prolong this war, our goal should be to stop this deadly war as soon as possible. All this affects prices, has created other problems, such as the energy crisis, and this has to be dealt with accordingly.

Georgia is firmly on its way with its European choice, our economy is developing, we have double-digit economic growth, and we must do everything possible for our country to get closer to Europe and the European structures as soon as possible," said Irakli Garibashvili.

Viktor Orban said he exchanged views with Irakli Garibashvili on geopolitical issues.

"I also want to say about Georgia. As for politics, this is a very important day, because we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations, and because we have to exist in abnormal times, we are facing an unprecedented crisis. It is the price crisis, the crisis of energy trains, and we are negotiating with different parties involved. I want to very briefly tell about today. We exchanged views, we are very close on geopolitical issues, on peace and war. We Hungarians very much want the Ukrainian-Russian war to end as soon as possible, Georgia is of the same opinion," said Orban.
