Just because something is said by an MEP it doesn't mean it is true - Sarjveladze on deoligarchization

Published:

The draft law on deoligarchization initiated by the ruling party will be discussed in the first reading today. It is known that the "Georgian Dream" does not agree with the draft proposed by the opposition, as it does not consider Bidzina Ivanishvili an oligarch.

As for the ruling team's draft itself, the Dream MPs still claim that Ivanishvili is not an oligarch, and just because MEPs say so, it does not mean it is true.

"When we talk about oligarchy, believe me, there is no reason to draw such a conclusion with regard to Bidzina Ivanishvili. The main thing for the concept of an oligarch is that a person uses power in his interests and has certain influence over government, in this case we have no such thing. If some European Parliament member is wrong, just because he expressed his opinion, does not mean we must consider it an indisputable truth," - Mikheil Sarjveladze said.
