How Georgia fulfills its obligations under the Association Agreement - Voting on the document with amendments of European lawmakers will be held in the European Parliament.
The European Parliament stresses that the agreement of March 8th is still to be implemented and that Giorgi Rurua remains in custody. A large part of the document is dedicated to the democratic conduct of the parliamentary elections in 2020 and the pre-election environment.
The 86-page document is undergoing 165 amendments by European lawmakers. The document speaks about the achievements of the country, as well as the problems that are still relevant in Georgia.
The document also speaks about independent media. European lawmakers write that prosecution of independent media managers is a lever for the ruling party to put pressure on opposition media, including Nika Gvaramia and Giorgi Rurua.
"Our support does not belong to any politician or political party, but to the legitimate aspirations of the Georgian people," said Sven Mikser, Permanent Co-Rapporteur for Georgia.
The voting in the Committee on Foreign Affairs is scheduled for about seven o'clock.
