Dimitri Gvritishvili, a judge of the Tbilisi Court of Appeals, regards the statement made by the U.S. Embassy in the case of Nika Gvaramia, the CEO of the Mtavari Channel, as an attempt to interfere in the activities of the court.
He "justified" statements by members of the government on the matter to the media.
"It's hard for me to imagine a situation in the United States of America that a representative of any state, whatever it may be, would make such a comment about a U.S. court decision, and the ruling party of America, or the judges there, would not have such a reaction and perception that this is in some way an attempt to interfere with the court's activities. Perhaps this is the reason for such a comment by the ruling party, any such statement or, even worse, an accusation against the judges I think is unacceptable," said Dmitry Gvritishvili.
