Georgian Dream MP Irakli Zarqua criticized the U.S. midterm elections and called on the U.S. to promptly implement the OSCE/ODIR recommendations.
Zarkua said this on the air of Imedi TV channel. He made a manipulative statement and accused America of election fraud. He was referring to Tony DeLuca, the candidate of the Democratic Party, who died on October 9, although in the November 8 elections the deceased candidate received 85 percent of votes.
Under state law, candidates can only be nominated before ballots are printed. The ballots were printed Sept. 28, and DeLuca, 85, died Oct. 9 after the ballots were printed, which means he could not be replaced, a fact that has nothing to do with election fraud.
Zarkua called this fact troubling on Imedi's broadcast and said:
"Here, the dead casted the votes but at least we did not vote for the deceased, it is alarming, and I would condemn if there was a possibility. Despite these young democratic processes, as it turned out, according to OSCE/ODIR Georgia was far ahead of what I personally thought, and once again I am proud of it. I wish and wish for the USA to implement all of OSCE/ODIR recommendations, of which they fulfilled none." Zarkua said.
