The Russian Foreign Ministry is publishing a statement on the detention of Zaza Gakheladze by the occupation regime and accuses Tbilisi of staging a performance.
According to the occupying state, Gakheladze, dressed in "camouflage" and armed with semi-automatic weapons, penetrated into the depths of South Ossetia at a distance of 300 meters, where he met with Russian border guards. He tried to hide and fired on the Russian military about 10 times. He was wounded when retaliatory fire was opened.
According to Lavrov's ministry, Gakheladze, who confessed to having crossed the border, is currently in hospital.
Against this background Moscow accuses Tbilisi of provocation and staging the performance.
It should be recalled that Zaza Gakheladze was kidnapped by Russian occupant forces on July 11 in the area near Skhvili fortress. A spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy in Georgia and the State Department responded to the abduction of a Georgian citizen and called on Russia to implement the 2008 ceasefire agreement.
