The Czech Ambassador was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for explanations - as the ministry says, Deputy Minister Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili met with the diplomat and demanded a detailed explanation.
According to the foreign ministry, the Czech ambassador told Khtisiashvili that "his words were misinterpreted and spread out of context":
On December 2, 2022, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. The reason for this was his statement published in the media, in which he said that part of the products coming to Georgia from the Czech Republic, bypassing the sanctions, goes to Russia.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, once again introduced to the Czech side the complex steps that Georgia is taking regarding the non-admission of similar facts, and demanded from the ambassador a detailed explanation of the basis of the ambassadors statement, which does not correspond to reality and harms both the cooperation of the two countries, as well as Georgia's reputation.
The Czech ambassador noted that unfortunately his words were misinterpreted and spread out of context.
During the meeting with the deputy minister, the ambassador also confirmed that there are no questions regarding the sanctions against Georgia," states the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
