The Minister of Justice again asserts that the state is doing its best to protect Mikheil Saakashvili's right to health, however, according to Bregadze, Mikheil Saakashvili himself refused full treatment:
"He always received relevant and adequate medical services from the state, both directly in the penitentiary institution, and in the treatment penitentiary institution number 18, as well as in the Gori military hospital. As you know, he was in the 12th penitentiary institution, where he was prescribed medical treatment. However, by his own decision, he did not take this treatment fully, in order to exclude the risk of further complications, he was transferred to the Viva Med clinic and is under the supervision of doctors." says Bregadze.
He accuses the "radical opposition" of "using the health condition of the third president for political purposes":
"We also saw the statement of the lawyer, where he said that the report would be confidential, which would be presented to the court, and no one would have access to it. However, we see politicians who are omniscient and talk about the health condition of the convicted Mikheil Saakashvili, making their own assessments, which of course It is not right, it is not completely moral and ethical when these people try to use the health condition of this particular person for their own political purposes." says Bregadze.
At the briefing held after the end of the government session, the Minister of Justice repeated the words of Chairman Kobakhidze, as if the media was calling for Mikheil Saakashvili to go on a hunger strike. Rati Bregadze spoke about the red lines:
When Mikheil Saakashvili announced a hunger strike, instead of calling for an end to the hunger strike, on certain TV channels they directly called that the end of the hunger strike would be the price of political suicide, and it should not be done under any circumstances, and they tried to equate it with a heroic act, which was completely unacceptable...
Of course, there is morality in politics, there are red lines and everyone must follow them, however, unfortunately, in very many cases, similar steps are taken and these red lines, human and moral, are violated" - said Bregadze.
