"I have heard a lot that Mr. Saakashvili is depressed and doesn't like the environment. Which prisoner likes the prison environment?", Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili said while talking about Mikheil Saakashvili's health condition.
Journalists asked Irakli Gharibashvili about the conclusion of the Public Defender's Council - the doctors assessed Saakashvili's condition as serious and said that he needs to be taken out of the country for treatment, despite this, in response to the question, the Prime Minister said that he was "not interested" in the Ombudsman's conclusion.
And to the question whether he accepts responsibility for Mikheil Saakashvili's life, he answered as follows:
"Our lives are given to God, so I can't really be responsible for anyone's life...
[...]
I want to sincerely wish Saakashvili, as a human being, a long life and good health, how can anyone be happy when a person dies. The state is doing and will do everything to protect the constitutional rights of all prisoners," says Gharibashvili
Regarding the transfer of Mikheil Saakashvili abroad for treatment, Gharibashvili repeated the statements of the Minister of Justice and said that Mikheil Saakashvili does not want treatment in Georgia and his real task is to be released from prison.
"Mr. Rati Bregadze came out and made a public offer to bring any doctor from any country, any clinic and treat him on the spot. Sorry, and they don't want to treat him in Georgia for the sole purpose, their task is to release Saakashvili", said Irakli Gharibashvili.
