"We ourselves should not help the authorities in what they have done, that is, to prolong the process as much as possible", - this is how the Chairman of the "National Movement" Nika Melia responded to the postponement of the trial of Mikheil Saakashvili until December 14.
Nika Melia responded to the statement of lawyer Shalva Khachapuridze during the selection of the date of the session and expressed his displeasure:
"Now I was listening to the representatives of the defense in the session hall, and when the selection was being made for the next date of the case, on Wednesday, one of the lawyers told Mikheil Saakashvili that he seems to have other processes and that's why he was not tired at this particular time," said Nika Melia.
According to Melia, Mikheil Saakashvili's case should now be a priority due to his serious health condition:
"I understand that there are different processes, but the priority issue today is the state of health of Mikheil Saakashvili, are we all speaking the truth in relation to the state of health of Mikheil Saakashvili, therefore, all other issues and all other court proceedings are of the tenth degree...
When we talk about his [Mikheil Saakashvili's] deteriorating health condition, practically day by day, now the luxury of a month's consideration of this issue in these courtrooms and then deciding whether Mikheil Saakashvili is in the worst condition or not is unacceptable for me personally. Of course, the strong position of the family and the defense side are important here, we think that we will all agree," said Nika Melia.
