The lawyer of the third president of Georgia, Shalva Khachapuridze, read Mikheil Saakashvili's letter to the media, where he says that he is aware of all the risks given his current health and will starve until he receives firm guarantees that the process will be online at least.
"Today, I was denied the most basic right to attend my own trial, this is a violation of all Georgian and international norms. I am therefore forced to resort to an extreme form of protest, a hunger strike, of course I am aware of all the risks given my current state of health, but I will be on strike until I receive solid guarantees to at least include a video link to my trial. There is a limit to all ridicule and humiliation," Shalva Khachapuridze read the letter.
