Three parties are reacting to the decision of the Hague Court regarding the 2008 war.
The parties call on the legal organizations to join efforts and prepare legal bases based on the conclusion to compensate the damages to the IDPs during the 2008 war and the family members of the people killed in the war.
According to Giorgi Vashadze, the architect of Strategy, based on the conclusion, the government could demand compensation for the damages to the displaced people and the family members killed in the war, as well as to initiate a criminal case against those who were found guilty by the prosecutor of The Hague.
Vashadze appealed to legal and non-governmental organizations and urged that since the government does not protect the interests of the country, parties and organizations should jointly prepare the relevant legal bases.
"The prime minister doesn't even make a statement about this. Irakli Kobakhidze, the head of the pro-Russian Georgian Dream, is silent. Why? Because for 10 years these people have been telling us that Georgia started the war. For 10 years these people have been accusing us of war actions of 2008, but what is important is what the prosecutor said - first of all, that Georgia is not guilty, there is no evidence of criminal actions of Georgia and there will not be any accusations. Secondly, the phrases "sleeping Tskhinval was attacked by Georgia" or "the Georgian side started bombing peacekeepers" are all disproved. It's clear and unambiguous, only Russia is to blame. What should happen next: firstly, we are wondering whether the same type of criminal case has been opened by the Georgian law enforcement authorities in relation to the three people named by the prosecutor in The Hague as accused of war actions against Georgia, secondly, whether there is any concrete plan of action In the international arena, the legal grounds are completely changing, Georgia has the right to demand compensation for the IDPs who were directly harmed during the 2008 war, and not only for the cost of the lives that were sacrificed to the Russian aggression in Georgia. I have in my hand the UN resolution regarding reparations regarding Ukraine, which was adopted about 1 month ago, and nothing is said here about Georgia.
I would like to appeal to all kinds of organizations, NGOs and law firms, let's unite our efforts and since Georgian Dream is not defending the national interests of our country, let's prepare a legal basis for demanding compensation for the damages we suffered not only in 2008, but for all the aggressive actions committed by Russia since the 90s," Vashadze said.
