A register of agents of foreign influence will be created - "People's Power" will initiate the bill

Anti-Western movement "People's Power" reports that in January it will initiate a bill in the parliament that will create a "registry of agents of foreign influence". MP Guram Macharashvili said the registration will be obligatory for all the "relevant" non-governmental organizations and other structures.

According to him, "agents of foreign influence" will be financial entities and will reflect the expenses in the declaration.

"The work process is already being completed and the public movement "Power of the People" will initiate a bill in January, which will essentially be based on the American legislation. The bill will also reflect the best practices of a number of other democracies in this law we are proposing will create a register of agents of foreign influence, in which registration will be obligatory for all relevant NGOs and other organizations that are funded by foreign sources and seek to influence public decision-making or shape public opinion in Georgia. The foreign influence agent command will be introduced, and the persons concerned will be obliged to fully declare their financial transactions and expenses," Macharashvili said.
