"The multi-week delay of Mikheil Saakashvili's trial is an effective denial of justice" - Nika Gvaramia, the CEO of "Mtavari Channel", writes in a statement from Rustavi prison:
On Saakashvili's court
When the issue requires a decision on whether a person dies or not, delaying the trial for weeks (if not months) is an effective denial of justice;
When the issue calls for a decision as to how immediate the suspension of the sentence should be, the judge's refusal to speedy review is a preliminary and unequivocal admission that the judge does not share the extreme severity of Saakashvili's health condition and, therefore, his need for urgent medical care;
When the penitentiary asks questions not about the essential issues of the expert opinion, but about the observance of procedural formalities and the correctness of evidence, it is clear in advance what the judge will do - with a summary decision, he will recognize the opinion of all foreign experts as improper evidence and will not even discuss their content;
The main thing to say is that Saakashvili does not have any court, and raising irrational expectations regarding the court or appealing to the court in any way is either extreme naivety or a tactic aimed at delaying time. The time that Saakashvili does not have - writes Nika Gvaramia.
