In America, expatriate military veterans and former representatives of the armed forces are writing to President Joe Biden. They demand to take all possible steps to save the life of the third president, Mikheil Saakashvili.
The letter is signed by about 250 former representatives of the armed forces. They also ask Joe Biden to inform the whole world about the physical an
"President Mikheil Saakashvili democratically and peacefully handed over the powers of president of Georgia to his successor. However, the new Georgian government aligned itself with Russia and began a campaign to politicize key state structures, including the Ministry of Defense. Many were summoned for questioning and forced to testify that Saakashvili had launched an unprovoked attack on Russia. Most of us could not continue to serve because of the rhetoric of the current government.
Mikheil Saakashvili is the only political leader who predicted a Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2008. Since a Ukrainian victory would mean the triumph of Western values and democracy over dictatorship and terror in the world, Saakashvili's death would be a disaster and a despair for those who believe in the institutions of the United States and the EU. It clearly shows signs of torture and human rights violations, including possible poisoning. Both Georgian and Russian TV channels openly ridiculed the former president using false accusations and falsified videos. These nefarious acts were perpetrated by the government, which tried to discredit him in order to serve President Putin.
Saakashvili is in terrible conditions and is not receiving medical care, which increases the likelihood of his early death. The Georgian government is ignoring calls from the European community to release him immediately and provide the necessary medical care. Please alert the world to the deteriorating mental and physical condition of the former president and take all possible measures to save Mikhail Saakashvili's life," the letter reads.
