"Democracy Research Institute" states that "Georgian Dream" has not fulfilled its own plan regarding the 8th recommendation of the European Commission.
The mentioned recommendation calls for protection of the rights of vulnerable groups and effective response to incidents of violence. In the 8th recommendation, the European Commission unequivocally indicates the need to identify and prosecute the organizers of planned violence against vulnerable groups.
"Despite the fact that the plan that "Georgian Dream" presented to fulfill the 12-point recommendations of the European Commission, nothing is indicated about the steps to be taken to identify and prosecute the organizers of planned violence against vulnerable groups. The plan is limited only to the obligation to publicly disseminate information "about the investigation of all relevant cases", which narrows the recommendation of the European Commission and does not fully correspond to its spirit and content", - notes DRI.
The organization says that in order to determine the progress of the implementation of the plan by the ruling party, they addressed the parliament - "in response, we received a confirmation of "active work" to implement the plan and a promise to receive more specific information "in the near future".
According to them, so far no information about the work done by the Parliament of Georgia in terms of the implementation of the 8th recommendation of the European Commission has been found in open sources.
