In 2008, we shot down Russian warplanes with Buks - the former Deputy Chief of General Staff on "Dream" propaganda

Published:

The statements of "Georgian Dream", as if the bookkeeping system handed over to Georgia was faulty, seem frivolous to the former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of Georgia.

Colonel Lasha Beridze, who held the mentioned position during the 2008 war, says that it was with the help of the "bukes" transmitted by Ukraine that the Russian planes were shot down.

"A simple answer could have been given that these "Buks" are needed for the defense of Georgia, and we do not have the opportunity to completely strip Georgia's [defense system]. A simple and decent answer could have been given, and not the hysteria we saw.

As for the fact that these Buks are expired and did not work, etc. I find it very funny. The effective performance of the Buks was very well demonstrated in the 2008 war. It was the Buks that provided the air defense that they provided. And it was through the Buks that the Russian planes were shot down and fought with them. So, to say that it is of poor quality and out of date is firstly wrong, and secondly, it damages Georgian-Ukrainian relations even more", says Lasha Beridze in a conversation with "Mtavark".
