On July 5, the Tbilisi Court of Appeal left those involved in the violence against journalists and cameramen, including "TV First" cameraman Lexo Lashkarava, as well as "Public Broadcaster" cameraman Ilia Tshiashvili, in custody.
Judge Maia Tetrauli reduced the sentence of the convicts - Davit Kutaladze, Akaki Nakashidze, Tornike Davlasheridze, Otar Gelashvili, Tsotne Chikhladze and Gia Giguashvili - by 1 year and sentenced them to 4 years of imprisonment. The court partially satisfied the complaints of the defense and acquitted the members of violent groups in the article of group organization of violence.
In the first instance, they were sentenced to 5 years in prison. None of the arrested admits guilt.
The announcement of the verdict was followed by noise and uproar in the hall. Supporters of homophobic and pro-Russian groups insulted the judge.
