Otar Toidze, a neurologist at the "Empathy" Center, is currently testifying in the Tbilisi City Court on the process of delaying Mikheil Saakashvili's sentence or releasing him from the sentence.
Otar Toidze read the conclusions prepared by the center and said:
"Firstly, the convict Mikheil Saakashvili was healthy before his arrest. Secondly, Mikheil Saakashvili's current neurological status and general state of health should be assessed as serious," Toidze said.
According to Toidze, the criteria for the severity of damage to the nervous systems of Mikheil Saakashvili are in full compliance with the criteria listed in the order of the Minister of Health, which is the basis for presenting the convict's release from punishment.
According to Toidze, the third president cannot receive the necessary treatment, and his condition is getting worse.
"Convicted Saakashvili is seriously ill, his health condition is rapidly deteriorating, he has not received complete, adequate medical care during the past 14 months, which cannot be organized under the conditions of imprisonment. This circumstance makes his recovery impossible, incompatible with imprisonment, and at the same time prevents the punishment from being carried out. Taking into account the above, in order to save Mikheil Saakashvili's life and complete clinical examination and therapy, he should be released from further serving the sentence," said Toidze.
