Georgia's trade turnover with Russia increased by 52% in 2022

Despite the sanctions imposed by the West on Russia, Georgia's trade turnover with Russia increased by 52% in 2022 compared to the previous year and amounted to 2.5 billion dollars. We read about this in the data published by Geostat.

According to Geostat data, the growth of Georgia's dependence on the Russian economy is noticeable both in terms of export and import. For example, if the country purchased 224,705 tons of oil and oil products from Russia in 2021, for which it paid 135,128 thousand dollars, during 2022, the amount of purchased oil products increased to 657,421 tons, and its price amounted to 622,747 thousand US dollars.
