The court examined the evidence on the trial of Mikheil Saakashvili - what do the parties say

In the Tbilisi City Court, a break was announced in the process of the release of Mikheil Saakashvili from the sentence or the postponement of the sentence.

The session began with the examination of physical evidence, which was sent by the American toxicological laboratory to the name of the judge.

We are talking about nail, hair and abdominal fat samples taken from Mikheil Saakashvili. Before that, the side of the penitentiary service said that the evidence was sent to the American laboratory in violation of standards. At today's session, the defense presented the evidence in a sealed state.

According to Mikheil Saakashvili's lawyer, Shalva Khachapuridze, the questions of the penitentiary service were dismissed and the judge himself saw that the evidence was sealed.

"Do you remember how the other side asked questions about whether it was sealed or not, whether it was sent or not, in what order it was conducted and how. But according to modern methods, which are established in the civilized world, it arrived in this form, it arrived directly in the name of the judge, the judge saw and made sure of all this. Their goal is to somehow invalidate the conclusion of the toxicological examination, as it is alleged that the samples were not taken in the proper manner", said Shalva Khachapuridze.

On the other hand, the side of the penitentiary service says that they have not received answers to any of the questions, because it is important for them how the evidence was sent to the laboratory, not how it was sent from there.
