Nika Gvaramia was granted victim status in the illegal wiretapping case

According to the Georgian Democratic Initiative (GDI), today, January 26, 2023, the Tbilisi Prosecutor's Office recognized the CEO of "Mtavari Channel" Nika Gvaramia as a victim within the investigation of the case of illegal wiretapping.

 The case concerns the SSG leaks in the media on September 13, 2021. According to reports, the State Security Service was conducting illegal surveillance, telephone and personal conversations of clergymen, journalists, lawyers, diplomats and other persons.

 In the distributed files, included the conversation of Nika Gvaramia.

 "Prior to the decision of the Prosecutor's Office on recognition as a victim, we requested an inquiry of Nika Gvaramia on November 18, 2022. On January 10, 2023, we requested the Prosecutor's Office to grant Gvaramia the status of a victim. After we did not receive an answer to our last request within the time limit established by law, we filed a complaint to recognize Nika Gvaramia as a victim. We submitted it to the Prosecutor General of Georgia", GDI notes.
