Zurab Abashidze, the representative of the Prime Minister in the matter of relations with Russia, confirms that the recorded conversation spread by "Cyber Kmara" really took place with the representative of Russia, Grigory Karasin. Abashidze did not answer the questions of "Mtavari Channel", however in a conversation with "Public Broadcaster" he said that there is nothing scandalous in this recording and it was made in June of last year.
According to him, the topic of conversation was the difficult situation created in the direction of Kazbegi-Lars.
Abashidze said that the conversation took place on June 21 or 20 last year. According to him, the "Prague format" exists precisely to make it possible to resolve such issues through direct contact.
"We involved local services, border guards, customs officers to regulate this situation. Our neighboring countries were worried, including their representative from Armenia. This is what we were talking about.
I have listened to this recording twice, this conversation is authentic and I still do not understand what is scandalous. I am talking about the fact that construction is going on from our side, a parallel large infrastructural project is being implemented and it is expected to be finished somewhere in a year and a half, in 2024, this will help to ease the situation. Parallel construction is going on there, roads and tunnels are being built.
They will somehow try to make it look like a big scandal, and if you listen to it calmly and look at what I'm talking about, those are the conversations we had back then. When there is a force majeure situation on the border in terms of transport, we always contact each other and this is a normal event," said Abashidze.
