Today, a debate will be held in the European Parliament regarding the state of health of the third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili. European parliamentarian Rasa Juknevičienė, talking to "Mtavari Channel", says that Georgia behaves like Russia.
According to her, when the former president of the country is dying in prison and the director of an independent TV channel, Nika Gvaramia, is arrested, these are all bad signals for the European Union.
"I shared Mikheil Saakashvili's photos on Twitter and I want to tell you that yes, these two people - Saakashvili and Navalny are Putin's personal prisoners. Unfortunately, more and more people in the West understand that Georgia is behaving like Russia. Of course, I don't mean the Georgian people here and all politicians, I mean the people who are in power.
On the one hand, the ruling party speaks nice words about joining the European Union, receiving candidate status, but on the other hand, they are doing everything to delay this decision as long as possible. I was also the initiator of the letter that we wrote to your president asking him to pardon Mr. Gvaramia. Of course, when the head of a television station critical of the government is in prison, it does not correspond to European values. When the former president of the country is dying in prison and the director of an independent TV channel is arrested, these are all bad signals for the EU," says Yukneviciane.
