Mikheil Saakashvili's life is at risk, we see that the Georgian government is not taking appropriate steps - Lexmann

At the moment, a debate is going on in the European Parliament regarding Mikheil Saakashvili's health condition. In her speech, MEP Miriam Lexmann, a member of the European People's Party (EPP), said that it is clear that the Georgian authorities are not taking appropriate steps to save Mikheil Saakashvili's life.

"The life of the former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, is in danger. The games, pandering and delay must end. Such shameless actions of the Georgian authorities are against the declared course of this country in the direction of European integration, as well as all the values and principles that this includes. As we have done many times from this platform, I would like to call on the Georgian authorities to allow Mr. Saakashvili to undergo treatment abroad, according to Article 283 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. We must not allow the former president of Georgia to die in prison. The government of Georgia bears full responsibility and will be required to answer if something happens to Saakashvili," Lexmann said.
