"Mikhail Saakashvili must live ... we see an attempt to kill him in prison," says David Arahamia, chairman of the Servant of the People faction of the Ukrainian Rada, referring to the resolution adopted by the European Parliament.
"Today we are in Strasbourg, in the European Parliament, where a resolution in support of Mikheil Saakashvili has been adopted. You know that the judicial system in Georgia is doing outrageous things and not allowing former President Mikheil Saakashvili to leave the country and be treated by foreign doctors. You know that this violates all international norms, including humanitarian and moral norms. That is why today we have to work together with the European Parliament. A similar resolution has been pass ed by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, as well as the Sejm of Poland and today by the European Parliament. Then there will be the European Court of Human Rights, and if the Georgian government does not recognise its decisions, it will be the proof that it is pursuing a pro-Russian course and becoming a Russian colony. I hope that this will not happen and that this appeal will help Mikheil Saakashvili to go for treatment and not to get involved in politics as is being speculated today. He must live, and we see the the attempted assassination of former President of Georgia in prison," - says Arakhamia.
