People's Power, known for its anti-Western and anti-American statements, says that the European Union operates according to the standards of Mikheil Saakashvili's "regime". MPs who have formally left "Georgian Dream" state that there is value, political and economic crisis in the European Union, which is particularly worrying for Georgia.
In the statement, the parliamentary majority MPs say that the lie is one of the main tools of the "better political forces" and it was used with great success by the "National Movement" in 2004-12 to maintain power.
According to them, today, in order for "the lie to be successful, National Movement TV stations aggressively oppose free speech". According to them, this attitude was clearly shown in relation to the initiated "Russian law draft".
"Despite the fact that the mendacity of our opponents -from the UNM, their NGOs, media and foreign patrons - is very easily proven by comparing the texts of American, Russian and Georgian laws, without going into any argumentation, they spread the same false message that "our bill" is Russian. This attitude is the result of their failure to recognise and adapt to such concepts as media freedom and freedom of speech in principle. Bidzina Ivanishvili has pointed out several times that the media in Europe is subject to complete censorship, which indicates the crisis of the most acute values of the European Union.
We see that democracy, human rights, freedom of speech, which were the main attraction of Europe for decades, are extremely degraded today. This alarming situation is well illustrated by the European Parliament. In recent months the European Parliament has passed three resolutions on Georgia, each surpassing the other in falsity They demand the release of criminals from punishment and the punishment of Bidzina Ivanishvili, they claim that Kezerashvili is being persecuted as the owner of the so-called critical media, they say that Saakashvili is imprisoned because of Bidzina Ivanishvili's personal revenge, they claim that the victim is not Sandro Girgvliani, but Saakashvili. When the European Parliament circulates a fake of this scale, it is indicative of the drastic situation created in the European Union. We will not act as general auditors of the European Parliament, but we have reason to assume that where such level of falsification is spread over Georgia, similar lies are often directed towards other countries as well. The value, political and economic crisis created in the European Union is particularly worrying for Georgia. Freedom of media and speech, truth and justice, agency-free sovereign statehood are the values for which we fought in 2012 and for which we freed Georgia from Saakashvili's agentocratic authoritarian regime. It is shocking to see how Europe is being stripped of these values, making its future very difficult to predict. The European Union operating according to the standards of the Saakashvili regime has nothing to do with the European family, whose membership we have been dreaming of for decades," - the statement reads.
For information, on February 14, the MPs who formally left the "Dream" announced that they will initiate a draft law in the parliament, which provides for the creation of a register of agents of foreign influence. According to the draft law, a register of "agents of foreign influence" should be created, where all non-business legal entities and media outlets with more than 20% of their income from "foreign powers" will be registered.
