All self-respecting governments would have behaved like us - Garibashvili about not going to Kyiv

"Against the background of the statements made by the political leadership of Ukraine, the government and the authorities of any self-respecting country will of course act as we do," Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said.

Garibashvili made this comment in response to the statement of Salome Zurabishvili that "Georgian government has isolated itself." According to the Prime Minister, Georgia actively supports Ukraine and for this purpose the country has joined some 400 international resolutions.

"We act in accordance with the national interest of our country. I mentioned that we have joined a number of resolutions, over 400 statements. Now the Minister of Foreign Affairs is in New York with other European leaders, he participated in the UN National Assembly, he spoke on behalf of our country, presented our position, once again he clearly expressed solidarity and support and respect to sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Moreover, if anybody wants to do something, even go to Kiev, everybody is free and we are not restricting anybody" - said Garibashvili.

According to him, the government of Georgia is acting in order to protect the interests of the Georgian people as well as the interests of Ukraine. As a reminder, today, February 24th marked the one year anniversary of the beginning of the war in Ukraine by Russia. Due to the planned event in Kiev today, the Rada of Ukraine invited Georgian Dream MPs, but they refused to go. Instead of the ruling party, the opposition went to Kiev.
