The movement for the liberation of Nika Gvaramia has been joined by lawyers, people who can best see and appreciate the legal absurdity of the case brought against the founder of Mtavari Channel. Symbolically, representatives of the movement made a statement at the Supreme Court, where the hearing of Gvaramia's case is due to start soon:

As it is known Nika Gvaramia, along with the media founder, is a lawyer, practices law and is a member of the Bar Association, therefore the lawyers are expressing their solidarity with him and are joining the movement," said Bachana Shengelia.

According to the lawyers, a number of findings in Gvaramia's case indicate the presence of political motives and this case is important on the way to European integration - "Today there is no more time for silence," the lawyers say and call on everyone to raise their voice against injustice and to free Nika Gvaramia from unjust sentence.

"Nika Gvaramia's case is a classic example of political persecution where an independent media owner is prosecuted just for causing discomfort to the government, it is a very dangerous development as it threatens all the citizens of this country... Therefore Gvaramia's imprisonment must stop immediately and the political persecution in Georgia must stop," said Oto Kakhidze, lawyer and member of the European Georgia.
