Mentioning Saakashvili among political prisoners reveals corruption problem in European Parliament – Kobakhidze

Published:

According to Georgian Dream chairman Irakli Kobakhidze, the recognition of Mikheil Saakashvili as a political prisoner by the European Parliament points to "corruption problems that exist in the European Parliament".

"For us, of course, this fact is extremely unacceptable, Mikhail Saakashvili is a prisoner convicted of the gravest crimes. These are the gravest crimes, and his mentioning among political prisoners speaks about the problems of corruption, which unfortunately, are present in the European Parliament today. I hope that the European Parliament will overcome such problems in the near future," Kobakhidze said.

As a reminder, a debate on Mikhail Saakashvili will take place in the European Parliament today, 14 March. "Political Prisoners Ordered to Die: Kara-Murza, Gorinov and Saakashvili" is the title of the debate, initiated by MEPs Anna Fotiga and Petras Astrevicius.
