In an interview with the "Mtavari channel", the American ambassador, Kelly Degnan, responds to the statement of the chairman of "Georgian Dream", Irakli Kobakhidze, and says that she does not know what conversations he is referring to. She repeated once again that nobody is asking Georgia to open a second front.

Chairman of Georgian Dream, Irakli Kobakhidze, said yesterday that "they have a lot of topics", including "what was  demanded" from the authorities in the telephone conversations.

"I don't know what he is talking about, but I have nothing to hide. About wiretapping? All Georgians will be very worried that their phone conversations are being listened to. I don't know what he is talking about, but I have nothing to hide.

I assure you once again, as I have said many times, we never asked Georgia to open a second front. We understand very well the sensitive situation Georgia is in, 20% of Georgia is occupied by Russia, and we are aware of the great pressure that Russia is exerting on Georgia. We understand all this very well and no one is asking Georgia for this, we do not want Georgia, any other country in this war, we are doing everything to stop this war. Putin started this war and he can stop it. Of course, the US has no desire for this to spread anywhere," Kelly Degnan said.

She reiterated that when Ukrainians are fighting not only for territorial integrity and sovereignty, but also for their identity, culture, nationality, that  we should all support and understand how essential and important this is.

"No one is asking or urging  Georgia to do something that is not convenient for it. We greatly appreciate what this government has done to help Ukraine at the United Nations, at various international forums, as well as humanitarian aid from the Georgian people, it was very important and showed Georgia's support for Ukraine. ", Kelly Degnan said.
