I have high hopes that evidence will be presented, or the matter will be reconsidered - Chairperson of the Supreme Court on the sanctioning of judges

Published:

Nino Kadagidze, Chairperson  of the Supreme Court and High Council of Justice , made an extraordinary statement at the session of the Supreme Council regarding the sanctioning  of 4 judges by  the US State Department.

Kadagidze says that the most serious accusations were made by the Department, for which she demands relevant evidence:

"We are opening today's Council meeting on a rather heavy note. The most serious accusations have been made against my colleagues by the US Secretary of State. I want to be as calm and fair as possible, so I very much hope that either relevant evidence will be presented or the matter will be reviewed by the Department from the side.

These statements cause a lot of tension in the court, and I, as the Chairperson of the Supreme Court and the Chairperson of the Council, want to urge my colleagues to calm down as much as possible and also ask the public not to draw premature conclusions. I have high hopes that many things will be revealed and that the remaining questions will be answered and I will get those answers.

My official statement will be made only after I have been given the opportunity to clarify a number of issues," Kadagidze said."
