Ukraine plans to create a coalition to save Mikheil Saakashvili - the Ombudsperson holds a meeting on Zelensky's instructions

Today, the issue of Mikheil Saakashvili was discussed personally at the initiative of Volodymyr Zelensky in the office of the Public Defender of Ukraine. The meeting was attended by MPs of the Rada of Ukraine and the opposition of the Parliament of Georgia. The meeting was attended remotely by the mother of the third president, Giuli Alasania, who provided the Public Defender of Ukraine with the latest information from the "Viva Medi" clinic. As it is known, it is planned to create a coalition in Ukraine aimed to save Mikheil Saakashvili.

"This meeting is important, because here we discuss how we can help Mikheil Saakashvili, the symbol of freedom and the fight against the Russian Empire. A very important proposal was made, but the most interesting issue is the creation of a coalition, analogous to the Ramstein format, which will work for the release of Mikheil Saakashvili, Saakashvili is kept in captivity by Moscow and fighting against it is possible only with joint forces", said Oleg Dunda, MP of "Servant of the People" faction.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine, Director of the Development and International Cooperation Support Association, Igor Dir, says that specific mechanisms should be developed that will help end Mikheil Saakashvili's imprisonment:

I support Mikheil Saakashvili and wish that his health does not deteriorate further and that his treatment has positive results, but at the same time we are well aware that specific mechanisms must be developed to help get him out of prison. We have discussed various opinions, however, I would like to see international rights protection measures, measures of international law implemented in his case, because the norms of international law, especially human rights protection norms, are universal, so I would like these measures to be fully effective in Georgia.

One of the leaders of the "National Movement", Koba Nakopia, thanked the participants of the meeting and the Ukrainian people for supporting Mikheil Saakashvili.According to him, despite the war, the president of Ukraine always finds time to support the third president of Georgia. Koba Nakopia said at the meeting that Mikheil Saakashvili has very little time left and needs help to survive. The Ukrainian side is also waiting for the decision of the Strasbourg court on the case.
