Dito Sadzaglishvili, the lawyer of the General Director of "Mtavari Channel", Nika Gvaramia, says that 5 months have passed since the defense filed a complaint in the Supreme Court, but the Chamber of Judges has not yet been appointed.
"Approximately 5 months have passed since we filed a complaint in the Supreme Court, so far we have not been able to get the Chamber staffed, which indicates that they simply refuse to implement justice," said Dito Sadzaglishvili.
For information, tomorrow, on May 16, it will be one year since Nika Gvaramia' was imprisoned . Last year, the Tbilisi City Court sentenced Nika Gvaramia to three years and six months in prison. The defense appealed the decision to the Court of Appeal - the second instance upheld the decision of the City Council.
The lawyers have also filed a complaint in the Supreme Court, but the case has not yet been considered in the Supreme Court. Nika Gvaramia's imprisonment is considered to be politically motivated both by the opposition within the country and by the Western partners. MEPs repeatedly called on the Georgian government to release Gvaramia. In addition, their addressee has been the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, on more than one occasion, although Zurabishvili has not made a statement about the imprisonment of Nika Gvaramia. In the West, they emphatically say that Nika Gvaramia's imprisonment will have a negative impact on the process of granting Georgia candidate status. "Nika Gvaramia's Freedom Movement" was created for the release of the General Director of "Mtavari Channel".
Tomorrow, on May 16, the movement will hold a demonstration near the Supreme Court.
