One year since the political imprisonment of Nika Gvaramia - it has been exactly one year since Bidzina Ivanishvili locked up the Director General of Mtavari Channel Rustavi Prison N 12. The case of Gvaramia, who was arrested on an absurd and ridiculous pretext, is currently being considered by the Supreme Court. That is why the rally in support of Nika is being held in front of the Supreme Court.
The members of Nika Gvaramia's freedom movement, his friends and colleagues announced a rally near the presidential palace on May 27, at 18:00. According to them, when Salome Zurabishvili is scheduled to speak at the European Parliament on May 31, the President should go there with the messages of the Georgian people, not with the messages of Ivanishvili's interests:
"The members of Nika Gvaramia's Freedom Movement have gathered at the Supreme Court. Today is one year since the illegal imprisonment of Nika Gvaramia. We protest against illegal imprisonment and declare that this country has no justice, no judicial system, and even if sanctions were not introduced against judges, it is clear to us that no one can get justice in this country. Justice is neither for Nika, nor for us, nor for any citizen of Georgia, instead we believe that our struggle has meaning and with our struggle we will definitely achieve that Nika will soon be free in a free Georgia. Today we are announce the next big rally, a consolidated protest against the existence of illegal political prisoners of the government. We will do this on May 27, at 6 o'clock, at the presidential palace, and we will definitely not allow the president to go to Europe with Bidzina Ivanishvili's message, if she is going to address the MEPs, she should go with the message of the Georgian people and without having political prisoners. There should be no more political prisoners in Georgia, the President has this key in her pocket and she should use it, and it is difficult for me to say who is more guilty, this court, which did not staff the Chamber, violating the deadlines, and June 22 is the deadline for issuing a decision, and we know for sure that this decision will not be rendered if the president, who can end this illegality, does not make this decision. We are protesting against the illegal detention and the fact that this illegal detention has accomplices. On the 27th, we will gather together at the presidential palace and this protest will continue until Nika is free and Georgia is free," said Gedevan Pofkhadze.
All influential international organizations, European and American politicians and civil society are talking about the political imprisonment of the media manager and the most vocal opponent of the oligarchic regime. The arrest of Nika Gvaramia coincided with one of the most important stages in the history of Georgia, when the country was waiting for a decision on the status of a candidate.
