Connecting the imprisonment of criminals with the status of a candidate is a speculation - Kobakhidze on Nika Gvaramia

Those who are trying to link the imprisonment of specific criminals with the European integration of Georgia and the granting of candidate status are aiming to prevent Georgia from receiving candidate status -  Kobakhidze, chairman of Dream, responded to the journalists' question regarding the 1st anniversary of the political imprisonment of Nika Gvaramia, the founder of Mtavari Channel, whose detention has been recognized as political by a number of international organizations.

"Considering that there are certain MEPs and other foreigners, this is a very sad event. Some people are trying to create artificial barriers for the candidate status, which is what the statements made regarding Saakashvili, Gvaramia, Kezerashvili and others are serving. In fact, linking candidate status with criminals is just speculation," Kobakhidze says.
