20% of Ukraine is occupied, the international community is not doing enough for peace talks - Gharibashvili

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, says that since the beginning of the war, Russia has occupied 20% of Ukraine, and this is today's status quo. According to him, no one knows when the war will end.

Gharibashvili spoke about this at the Qatar Economic Forum. He was asked whether he agrees with the Hungarian Prime Minister's statement that Ukraine cannot win a war with Russia:

"I would like to remind you all that since the beginning of this war, today we already know that 20% of the territory of Ukraine is already occupied, this is the current status quo. What will happen tomorrow, I don't know, I can't say, I don't think anyone knows either," Gharibashvili said.

At the forum, Gharibashvili also noted that there is not enough effort on the part of the international community to start peace talks. The Prime Minister was asked - "Aren't you surprised that Ukraine lasted so long?" To which he replied "I think everyone is surprised".

"Unfortunately, we don't see any signs that this war will end soon. This is a problem, but I want to say here that we don't see enough efforts from the international community to implement the right measures for peace talks to take place," Gharibashvili said.

Regarding the question of who should take the first step towards peace talks, Gharibashvili said that "both sides".
