Eight facts of alleged voter bribing revealed in the pre-election period - ISFED

According to the monitoring by the International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED), 8 cases of alleged voter bribery during the pre-election period were identified by a non-governmental organization.

Eight facts of alleged voter bribing include:

  • By the majoritarian MPs of the Parliament of Georgia and officially nominated majoritarian candidates - 4;
  • By "Lelo  for Georgia" - 1;
  •  By the United National Movement - 2 cases;
  • By Chugureti Majoritarian MP of Tbilisi Sakrebulo - 1.

According to the monitoring, cases of dismissal on political grounds were reported in 5 municipalities.

  • Alleged political pressure / threats -5;
  • Estimated use of administrative resources -2;
  • Allegedly politically motivated discrimination in the provision of social assistance- 2;
  • Pressure on Fair Election’s  Observer- 1;
  • Obstruction of political activity- 1 and interference of  the church in the election campaign-1;

The report states that the facts of alleged voter bribery were recorded in Tsageri, Ambrolauri and Oni on behalf of Gocha Enukidze, the incumbent majoritarian MP of the Georgian Dream, who was officially nominated as a majoritarian candidate.

ISFED presented the second interim report on the pre-election monitoring of the 2020 elections today, August 4. The report mainly covers the period from July 5, 2020  to August 3, 2020, as well as the events that took place before July 5.
