Presence of Russian troops in the occupied regions is a violation of law - UN Security Council

Published:

“The presence of Russian troops in the occupied regions of Georgia and the recognition by Russia  of the so-called sovereignty of these regions violates the territorial integrity of Georgia and the norms of international law”  - says  a joint statement issued after the closed session of the UN Security Council.

The situation in Georgia after the August 2008 war was discussed at the sitting. The signatories of the joint statement say that they are extremely concerned about the so-called borderization, illegal detentions along the administrative border, and disinformation  disseminated by Russia during a pandemic.
