A few weeks before the decision on status, the mother party of the war, the EPP, passed a hostile resolution - Garibashvili

According to Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, a few weeks before the decision on granting EU candidate statusGeorgia, the European People's Party (EPP) adopted a "hostile resolution against the interests of the Georgian people".

Gharibashvili calls EPP the "mother party" of the Global War Party and says that the resolution they adopted was an obstacle for European leaders to grant the candidate status to Georgia.

"If there is anyone who has not done anything for getting the status and implementing this recommendation, it is the irresponsible opposition, the party of war, who do not want the country to get the candidate status under our government. They are sabotaging the country in order not to get the candidate status I want to give you concrete examples of this. Last year, when there was one of the important, historic moments, when the Council of Europe had to take a decision and decide which countries should be granted the status. Just before this decision, a few weeks before the European Leaders' Meeting, let me remind you that a hostile resolution was adopted against the interests of Georgia and the Georgian people. And who was the author and signatory of the resolution? The sponsor, initiator and signatory of this resolution was, I repeat, the main mother party of this destructive war party, the European People's Party. Ask them, if they did anything, a public call, or a request or a demarche before making such a historic decision, the adoption of such an unfair, undeserved resolution would be an obstacle for European leaders, including skeptical leaders," says Gharibashvili.
