The Chairman of the "Georgian Dream", Irakli Kobakhidze, says that certain high-ranking representatives tell the members of the ruling team at the meetings with them not to pay attention to the MEPs and that their evaluations will not affect the candidate status. Kobakhidze said that he could not name specifically who made the mentioned statement, because he could not reveal the details of the closed meeting.
"When we have meeting with certain people, certain high-ranking representatives from the European Commission, they tell us not to pay attention to the MEPs. What is our answer to this, explain it to the people then. A very high-ranking representative. [name and surname] I cannot say what is being discussed in closed meetings . Do not listen to the MEPs, their evaluations are not important, do not pay attention to them and their evaluations will not affect the status of the candidate. We are directly talking about a very high-ranking representative whose word has a special weight . It is a closed meeting, I cannot take it outside, but this is what they tell us. They can't say it in public , it turns out that, as you said, they can't publicly show disrespect to the European Parliament," Kobakhidze said.
According to him, it was mentioned at the meetings that the decision is made by the European Commission, the European Council, and not the European Parliament.
