Neither Georgia nor Ukraine has progressed, the status quo has been maintained - Kobakhidze on joining NATO

Published:

Chairman of the "Georgian Dream", Irakli Kobakhidze, says that the status quo has not changed either for Georgia or Ukraine at the NATO Vilnius summit. According to him, just as nobody knew yesterday when and how Georgia and Ukraine would become NATO members, the situation is the same even after yesterday's communique.

"The status quo has been maintained. The decision of the Bucharest Summit remains in effect, according to which both countries will definitely become NATO members, however, there were no specifics beyond that yesterday. What is understandable, the attitude was directly reflected in this document, including NATO's attitude towards Russia Pragmatic policy: It is clearly written in this document that NATO does not want a confrontation with Russia, and the expression of this attitude is that we do not have anything new, the status quo is maintained", - said Kobakhidze.

He called the statements that Georgia has regressed after the Bucharest summit a lie. Kobakhidze claims that no country has made any progress on membership.

"The status quo has been maintained for both Georgia and Ukraine, which means that neither Georgia nor Ukraine have progressed, therefore we are not talking about progress. There is no progress," said Kobakhidze.
